Go back into Nikon View NX and try using the D-Lighting HS. Try the slide bar and move it until you feel you have the right light exposure, however, it may not be perfect but I'm sure it will certainly lighten up your subject matter, the bear. Hope this is helpful and works for you.
I'm looking for specific feedback on lighting. Although the photo looks decent on screen, when I enlarged and printed at the 8x10 size, it was quite dark and I could barely see the difference between the fore and background - Boo blended right in. What could I have done differently? Is there particular editing I should do (note that I do not have any editing software at the moment, aside from what comes with the Nikon View NX). Thanks.
